Synthetic Seaweed

This series was created as a response to the insidious presence of plastic waste on our beaches.

For several months I collected detritus from my local beach, which would become the raw materials for these still life compositions.

Each image contains both natural and man made elements. Their surface beauty and sculptural forms laced with a whimsy that belies an ugly and uncomfortable truth.
